The Great Invisible Movie by Margaret Brown
Margaret Brown's documentary The Great Invisible features the filmmaker traveling to towns throughout the south that are still experiencing the disastrous effects off the Deepwater Horizon oil spill from 2010. The filmmakers capture the environmental, health, and financial impact of BP's lethal mistake, and show how the story is not over even though the headlines have gone away. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

STEM: Ecosystem. Sundarbans
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20130212-sundarbans-natures-bioshield
The Sundarbans is Bangledesh and India's giant mangrove forest, home to the Bengal Tiger. It is an ecosystem that is being destroyed and turned into a shrimp farm. But this forest protects one of the world's most populated areas from cyclones and storms.

STEM: Ecosystems, Amazon Rainforest
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20130226-amazon-lungs-of-the-planet
Deforestation is a big problem in the Amazon. The Amazon rainforest regulates the atmosphere by storing carbon and creating oxygen. Half of the world's wildlife lives there. This 4 minute video explains the crucial role that the Amazon plays in the health of the earth.
STEM: Ecosystems, Antarctic Ocean
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20130305-antarctica-engine-of-ocean-life
This is a 4 minute film about the oceans surrounding Antarctica. That southern ocean around the earth's remotest, coldest, windiest, loneliest place is essential to all of the world's ocean life.
Even though it is a cold and desolate place, it supports an amazing number of animals. All of that life relies on the sea for food. The sea around Antarctica is full of plankton. Nutrient rich waters of Antarctica is key to the global ocean system. This is the point where the world's oceans connect.
This system generates a huge amount of nutrient cycling, where the world's largest mammal, the whale, can feed.

STEM: Tech Art: Mirage Animated Film (9:19)
The short animated film about a boy, his dog, and a magical conch is so good it's bananas! It was made by two animation students and with the funding from School of Visual Arts (psst - that's where I went to school!)
See what happens when an ecosystem gets disturbed by a magical element.

Zombie Snails (2:40)
When a snail eats these parasites the parasites take over the snails tentacles and brain to ensure that the parasite's offspring lives on. The snail becomes food for a bird, and the cycle continues when another snail eats the bird droppings.
